Local Honey Party Friday

I'm finally here. I had some scary issues last night that I'll write about later. Our apartment's perfect, but there are some safety issues. I started work at Vice today, pretty simple but it's fun! I wish Pierrette was here already!

Goth Night

I'm at the airport right now waiting for my flight back to New York. I feel like death and I haven't slept yet, thinking partying hard earlier was a good idea. Was pretty fun though.
Me and Pierrette went to Goth Night last night, and I really have never had more fun dressing up. Me and Carmen spent our time getting ready googling "goth" and trying to figure out if goths wear headbands, (gloves, jewelry, crosses, gold..)

Hot Dog Highway

Pierrette had a birthday, I started working at a bar, Shane moved to the city, and I somehow managed to convince myself I can handle four jobs. When I have lots of money and no time to spend it I'll be kicking myself in the ass. Or something like that.
After plane troubles that involved me taking the railroad to Long Island, missing my flight, and getting stuck in Baltimore, Greg picked me up from the airport and we headed straight to Mercy Lounge. It's weird getting introduced to people in a town you've lived your entire life. I got "hope the Southern hospitality treats you well" more than once. When did I lose my Tennessee heritage?

We ran into Elise at Anthropologie looking for furniture. Got distracted by really cute underwear. Trying to take advantage of my 40% discount, but really couldn't find anything.

and a really really priceless picture of Matt Walker:

Today I quit my job in Nashville. It felt so good. Retail is the death of me. I will never be here again:
Harolds.

Just booked my flight back,  I can't wait.

OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL

So, after our all night party we took at easy sunday. Sleeping from 10 AM to 3 PM made me feel a little out of sorts but it was a fun adventure that didn't end in a kidnapping or arrest so I will think of it fondly. We are definitely planning on attending more of those kinds of parties in the future. Next time we will know to dress up and bring more party supplies ;)
Good news: WE FINALLY FOUND AN APARTMENT!!!!! It is in Crown Heights and is adorable and HUGE. Rachel is so sweet she let my have first dibs on which room I wanted but we spat and shook on it and she will get first dibs the next go round. Hopefully it won't be for a while because let me tell you finding an apartment in NYC/Brooklyn is one of the most stressful things I've ever done. It's totally doable but it certainly sucks. I even broke out in hives. But after it's all said and done we couldn't be happier with where we landed.
The gorgeous lobby:

Both Bedrooms have 2 windows and one brick wall! They are on opposite sides of the apartment so no worries about making too much noise... not that we care about that kind of thing anyway.

Love the pretty blue tile in the bathroom and so glad it has a real tub for bubble baths.

And last but not least a kitchen thats big enough to cook AND eat in! What are the odds?

We are officially Brooklyn girls now!

Rubulad

I can't begin to explain the party we experienced Friday! Nonsense NYC does a much better job than I could even try to put into words:

"The walls of Rubulad have a peculiar archeology. Every square inch is covered with scraps of paper, textured fabrics, shiny baubles, little lights, or rough paintings. From that chaos of decorations you can start to read the history of the space. A banner reminds you of heaven and hell, a piece of tinfoil recalls the Kiss party, a xeroxed hunk of cheese has something to do with cats and mice, and there's a candy cane from Christmas. There's art everywhere. Urban folk art. A diorama in the window-well outside the bathroom. A topiary rabbit at the front door. A big tree that begs you to climb inside. You see all this at once, jumbled and confused, overwhelming, the same way you remember the parties... " "...It's sort of hard to say what makes the parties so good. At first you think it's the space, wonderful and baroque. Then you think it's the people, who dress up, follow the themes, and wear costumes. At one point you start to be impressed by the performers: the bands, a puppeteer, some guy showing old films, a groovy band that gets everyone dancing. And finally you realize that there's a consistency to each party that isn't an accident, and it's the people who host it who give it that consistency. In a way, Chris and Sari are pretty much responsible for all of it, or at least for setting the framework that allows it all to happen..."

After a huge ordeal of losing our keys, locked out of Alexia's apartment, finding places to stay and then ditching them, we ended up just staying out and hitting up a diner around 9am.
Really confusing riding the trains with the Wall Street suits on their way to work.
